Cranbourne Botanic Gardens
I love going to the Botanic Gardens in the city but last weekend we spent a wonderful day at another Botanic Gardens in the bush. Located in one of Victoria’s most precious areas of native bushland, these contemporary gardens showcase native plants in settings that reflect the true essence of the Australian landscape. So often people tell me they don’t like ‘Australian natives’ when discussing garden styles. They don’t have enough colour or lushness, they are too stringy and brown! Well these gardens throw all those misconceptions out the window and demonstrate how native Australian plants can be used in backyard, urban and city settings. The display gardens were particularly inspiring with tons of practical take home ideas and plant information. The precinct includes the How to Garden, Promenade Plaza, the Backyard Garden, the Lifestyle Garden, the Greening Cities Garden, the Diversity Garden and the Home Garden.
Lots of things for the kids to do and a few lovely cafes and gift shop to keep everyone happy – great day out. For more information go here
